Biblical understanding about Israel
The Montefiore Windmill in Jerusalem is a remarkable windmill named after the Italian Jewish businessman Moses Montefiore, who donated it in the mid 19th century to help the poor, unemployed inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Christians for Israel Holland - in co-operation with The Jerusalem Foundation (owner of the windmill) and the Municipality of Jerusalem – decided in 2008 to restore the windmill to its former glory. So that it can be again a symbol of hope and brotherhood. Over the last 150 years the windmill has deteriorated so badly that it is little more than an empty shell.
Major work was carried out to restore the sails and millstones, so that the mill can again grind grain into flour. Many sponsors have helped to complete this project. Visitors to the windmill will be able to read the names of all those businesses and people that have assisted to make this project possible.
The ceremony for the dedication of the windmill of Montefiore took place on the 28th of August 2012.
