C4I Netherlands lights largest Hanukkiah in the world

On Wednesday 27th November 2013, the largest Hanukkiah in the world was lit by Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands, Binyomin Jacobs, together with the Ambassador of Israel to the Netherlands Haim Divon. Present where several members of the Dutch Parliament, the Mayor of Nijkerk, and 1500 supporters of Israel and the Jewish people.

In the coming years it is the intention to erect the Hanukkiah in different cities in Europe. Christians for Israel Netherlands is lobbying to have it placed in front of the European Parliament in Brussels next year. Since the origin of Hanukkah relates back to the time of Yehuda HaMaccabi, who stood up against the Greek domination which had forbidden the circumcision of newborn Jewish boys, this is of great significance in Europe today, where there is increasing pressure to forbid Jewish circumcision. History seems to be repeating itself.

It was a beautiful evening in which friendship, solidartiy and light where the central themes.
