In this edition:
Dear brothers and sisters,
It is so inspiring to see how God is moving and shaping history to reach his purposes. What a privilege we have to live in this generation when we witness the return of God's people to the land. This is a great encouragement to us as Christians, because it demonstrates that God is faithful to his Word, and will fulfil all things he has promised. It is also a great sign of hope, because it shows that Messiah is coming soon. I hope you are all encouraged by the stories in this edition of The Messenger - the monthly ministry update form Christians for Israel International. May the Lord bless and equip you to do those works he has prepared for you to do (Ephesians 2:10).

Executive Director

A blessed week in Thailand
By Kees Brouwer, Christians for Israel Representative in Thailand.. In September 2016 we hosted C4I International President Willem J.J. Glashouwer for a speaking tour in Thailand. It began on 9th September in Bangkok. On Friday evening 9th and the whole day Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September in Praise Church Bangkok. I was wondering – will Willem manage such a punishing schedule? But Willem was full of energy., as always. He sees it as his calling to preach the gospel of the Kingdom to the church worldwide. His message is that God still loves his people Israel, his first-born son, and he is bringing them back to the land as he has promised (see e.g. Ezechiel 37), because he wants to bless the church and all nations too!

Babi Yar commemoration on Thursday September 29, 2016
A commemoration with high officials from all over the world will take place at Babi Yar (a huge ravine now close to the centre of Kiev, Ukraine) where the shootings of Jews started on September 29, 1941 (75 years ago) on the most Holy day for the Jewish people: Yom Kippur! The Israeli President Reuven Rivlin will also attend this commemoration at Babi Yar. Thousands of children and babies in this ravine were buried alive! In three days time more than 33,000 Jews were shot or buried alive at this ravine, but in fact Babi Yar is a mass grave of 150,000 mainly Jews, gipsies and physically ill!

The Rabbi of Mariupol
A pleasant breeze cools the blistering heat of this summery Ukrainian afternoon. While we overlook a picturesque hilly field filled with shrivelled up grass we hear every now and then gunfire from the front. It doesn’t seem to disrupt the quiet. “This is a holy place”, rabbi Menachem Mendel Cohen from Mariupol tells us.

Australian Speaking Tour 2016
By Orly Wolstein.. Exchanging the stifling heat of the forty degrees centigrade in the Israeli desert for the Australian winter by going from one part on the globe to the other for the speaking tour with Christians for Israel. I decided not to nourish many expectations. The director of the First Home in the Homeland, Elena Kovarsky, guided me through all the preparations; we collected video materials, PowerPoint slides and documentation about our First Home in the Homeland program to share with our Australian Christian and Jewish friends. We experienced in this tour so much acceptance and good will and hospitality! But let me tell the story step by step.

Hope for Lydmila
Lydmila Chernyavskaya from Luhansk walked almost all the way to Kharkiv right after her house suffered massive shelling. She is 74 years old and has no relatives left. Lydmila lived for some time in Kharkiv in the emergency center for refugees, but then headed for Rovno to find a job there, since her scanty pension made it difficult not only to live a life, but even to survive.
